Srimad Bhagavadgeeta :

Chapter-5.( Karma-sanyasa-yogam ).

Slokam-2.

Sanyasah karmayogasca nih sreyaskara vubou,

Tayostu karmasanyasat karmayogo visishyate.

Sanyasah karmayogah ca = karmasanyasam and Karmayogam,

Ubou nih sreyaskaraou    = Both are ways to moksham ( liberation ),

Tu tayoh                              = But out of these two,

Karmasanyasat                   = High and above than karmasanyasam,

Karmayogah visishyate    = Karmayogam is far 'Sreshtam'( superior).

Krishna replied, “Both renunciation of action and the performance of action as yoga lead
to liberation. But the performance of action as yoga is better than renunciation of action.

Both renunciation of actions and Karma-yoga lead to Liberation. Between the two, Karma-yoga, however, excels over renunciation of actions.

Thus He extols Karma-yoga. [Karma-yoga is better than renunciation of actions that is not based on Knowledge.]

The Supreme Lord replied: 'Renouncing [the fruits] and also action in yoga both lead to the path of liberation, but compared to the renunciation of fruitier labour, the action in yoga is the better of the two.

The man of fortune said: 'Both the work done for the uniting as the all together forsaking of profit-minded work lead to liberation, but the way you put it I'd say that compared to the forsaking of profit-minded work, the action in service of the unification is the better.

Lord said: The renunciation of work and work in devotion are both good for liberation. But, of the two, work in devotional service is better than renunciation of works.
activities (seeking sense gratification) are cause for material bondage. As long as one is engaged in activities aimed at improving the standard of bodily comfort, one is sure to transmigrate to different types of bodies, thereby continuing material bondage perpetually.

Srimad-Bhagavatam confirms this as follows:
"People are mad after sense gratification, and they do not know that this present body, which is full of miseries, is a result of one's fruitier activities in the past. Although this body is temporary, it is always giving one trouble in many ways. Therefore, to act for sense gratification is not good. One is considered to be a failure in life as long as he makes no enquiry about the nature of work for fruitier results, for as long as one is engrossed in the consciousness of sense gratification, one has to transmigrate from one body to another. Although the mind may be engrossed in fruitier activities and influenced by ignorance, one must develop a love for devotional service to Vasudeva. Only then can one have the opportunity to get out of the bondage of material existence."

"Renunciation by persons eager to achieve liberation of things which are related to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, though they are material, is called incomplete renunciation." Renunciation is compete when it is in the knowledge that everything in existence belongs to the Lord and that no one should claim proprietorship over anything. One should understand that, factually, nothing belongs to anyone. Then where is the question of renunciation? One who knows that everything is Lord's property is always situated in renunciation. Since everything belongs to the supreme, everything should be employed in the service of Easwaran. This perfect form of action in Paramatma is far better than any amount of artificial renunciation by a sannyasi.

When Arjuna wanted to clarify the best out of two yogams ( CH-5.1), Lord understood the depth of Arjuna's ignorance. Arjuna question exposed his thought that both ( karma yogam and karmasanyasayogam ) lead to two different goals and different paths too.

Laziness and carelessness are closely attached to ( characters by birth ) all human beings. If you allow him to his way, majority will sit idle, look for easy life and easy food.

SAKAMA-KARMAM : To awake him from this slumber, desires are generated in him. To fulfil his desires human become restless and rush for work till he gets satisfaction. -1st stage.

NISHKAMA-KARMAM : After some time man becomes tired and fed up with these mad actions. This situation give him a chance to do selfless dedicated social work,(in which he has no personal gains) here he must turn to the new path opened to him. This way the karmam followed ( in 'Yajnam'-bhavam ), this is known as Nishkamakarmam. 2nd stage. ( ( now his vasanas are removed and becomes pure and qualified to meditate on "Paramatma".

DYANAM : This is the 3rd stage. -Meditation.

Thus Lord stress that both paths ( Karmayogam and karmasanyasayogam ) lead us to one and only goal. But karmayogam is superior to karmasanyasayogam, Srikrishna says. This does not mean karma-sanyasam not good, if anybody think so, then those people did not understood and followed what Lord Krishna narrated in Geeta so far.

Till this time Lord talks to the one ( Arjunan) who is difficult situation and lost his balance of mind. Arjuna has full of vasanas of Kshatriya. To eradicate this pollution ( vasanas) battle field is the exact stage to a kshatriya to perform. As long as we have vasanas we are compelled to work. Those of us who have this Arjuna syndrome they have to act, and do NISHKAMA-KARMAM.

This is what Lord wants to tell us. That is why Lord meant karma yogam is sreshtam than karmasanyasayogam.
