Srimad Bhagavadgeeta :
Chapter - 9. ( Raja-vidya-raja-guhya- yogam)
Slokam -32.
Mam hi partha vyapasritya yepi syuah papayonayah
striyo vaisyasttha sudrah tepi yanti param gatim.
Hi partha = What it is, Arjuna,
Striyah vaisyah sudrah = Women, vaisya, sudra,
Tatha papayonayah api = This way have become evils,
Ye syuah te api = Who are in, they also,
Mam vyapastitya = After surrendering me,
Param gatim yanti = Attain the Supreme state.
In previous two slokams ( 30 and 31 ) : 30th slokam- In this slokam Lord Krishna says to Arjuna " Even though he is cruel and criminal minded, without any external influence of thoughts , if he connects ( bhajanam ) me, then he should be considered as good man. Why because he has decided to move in right path." 31st slokam - " In great speed he becomes a Mahatma and gains permanent peace of mind. Dear Arjuna my devotee never perishes, absolutely keep this in your mind."
This slokam is an appendix and emphasis on the above two previous slokams. Not only evils, uplifted with diversion of mind towards the Lord, those, whose mind and intelligence are effected due to the unknown cause in birth, continuous meditation will help them to get out of their disabilities and rehabilitation is made possible.
In vedas, Puranas and smrithies, there are plenty of interpretations similar to this slokam. Here women, vaisyas and sudras are mentioned as low class, it is equal to a mention that religion in a society is useful to handful of people. This thought among the people ( students/ readers/ public ) is totally against the Tatvam ( principle ) established by Srimad Bhaghavadgeeta from the beginning. Hence we have to understand, the essence of the words, Lord used in this slokam.
Religion is not a support to nourish and develop a physical body. Few Bodily rituals ( will not help ) one cannot fulfill. Religion, through its directions, aiming the evolutionary progress , body is not related to this actions. Religion aims the mind and intelligence to uplift towards progress in Atma enlightenment. It helps, to lift them who lack the intelligence to grasp and follin line. Therefore, according to the state of time and place, the speciality seen in different individual 's mind and intelligence, are the meaning of the words used in this slokam- this the point we have to understand.
People who have deep relationships and very strong desires are the owners of weak and oscillating minds. They are "Strainnamanaskar" (means having the minds of women).
Likewise, there are few people who have "Business mentality" in very high degree. These types, in large always calculating the profits. These types are "Vaisyas." This way, their attention is only on profits, they will not progress in the path of meditation. Sacrificing the fruits of karma, is the method, to keep mind still. Thereafter reach the point of ( Atmanirvrati ) bliss. This is the secret . When you see this way, the 'Addhyatmika sastras' rejects 'Vaisyatva' ( business mentality ), one who comes under this category , cannot expected to progress in 'Addhyatmeekam.'
The 'Alasatha/ Alasyam' ( carelessness/laziness ) and 'Jaddaprkrati' ( nature of unmoving stone/ dead matter/ inaction, etc ) of mind is indicated by the word 'sudra.'
Thus, aim of using the words 'stri ( woman), vaisya, sudra', to confirm the speciality of different types of tools such as mind and intelligence, then, thereafter, as 'Manava-dharma-sastrm', ( Bhagavadgeeta ) will be understood this slokam without harming, the importance and value of Srimad Bhagavadgeeta.
"Papayanayah" :- In the view of Vedantha the term 'Papam' means wrong thoughts/ oscillations/ vibrations of mind and karmas of the nature harming others, dis-honoured by the society, and similar ways, resulting in accumulated deposits of 'Vasanas,' these ugly vasanas influence human beings compelled to involve in the activities which give others sorrow and sufferings. The field of mind, is ploughed and mixed with 'Dushpravanathas' ( bad/ugly/dirty components) is the 'Prabavasthanam' ( source/ place of origin ) to 1. Strainna bhavam ( womanhood) , 2. Business mentality ( Vaisyatvam ), 3. Laziness, resting, unmoving dead matter like, etc ( Sudratvam ). Here some bad elements of our country miss-guide the citizens, giving wrong comments without understanding of Lord Srikrishna's definitions ( we have seen earlier in ch-4, slokam-13, catur varnniyam......). The foolish people miss-lead that woman,( gender bias), vaisya and sudra caste dis-gracing etc, but their comments must be thrown to dustbin, as they really not understood Lord Krishna.
In short, till the time, the durvasanas remain ( stay), in our mind, there is no use studying Vedas, -declare Bharatheeya Rishies. For such people Scriptures are not allowed, the eligibility to study Vedas is Sadhana only, out of all sadhanas Upasana is the superior one ( with sincere devotion, continuous fixing the mind ( connecting/uniting ) to the Lord), this way all vasanas are washed away mind becomes pure and clean.
Te api yanti param gatim : - To fly high towards Paramatma, the necessary concentration and calmness of mind - gained, once the vehicle started then its aim of the movement is towards the destination only. Hence Lord Sri-krishna confirms, they are all achieve the 'Parama-lakshyam'- A Jeevatma, Paramatma union!!!
